One day a year, for the past 31 years, nine of the country’s finest museums, all ones that call Fifth Avenue home, collectively open their doors from 6pm – 9pm for free to New Yorkers and visitors for a mile-long block party and visual art celebration. This traffic-free, music- and art-filled celebration fills the street and sidewalks of Fifth Avenue from 82nd to 105th street, the mile now officially designated as Museum Mile. Over 50,000 visitors attend the festival annually.

Salute to Israel Parade in NYC

NEWS: May 31 2009 Salute to Israel Parade in NYC – Images by Dio Dipasupil

In 1964, thousands of Jews gathered to walk down Riverside Drive together in a show of support for the young State of Israel. Since then, the Salute to Israel Parade has continued its tradition as the world’s largest gathering in support and celebration of Israel and its people. A major vehicle for Zionist expression, the Parade enables communities to come together in a non-partisan, apolitical show of unity and solidarity with brothers and sisters in Israel.
